Best Google Ads budget pacing tools in 2026

Google Ads can spend up to twice your daily budget on a given day, so the only number that matters is where the month is heading. These are the tools that track month-to-date spend, project the month end, and tell you before you blow the budget rather than after.

Ad Narrator Budget Monitor

Editor's pick

Month-to-date spend plus an end-of-month projection

Best for agencies and in-house teams who want pacing alerts without building anything

Connect Google Ads and Meta Ads, set a monthly target per account, and Budget Monitor pulls spend up to yesterday and projects where the month lands. It alerts you before you overspend rather than after, keeps each platform's numbers separate, and the same data feeds the plain-English monthly report. Billed per active workspace with a 30-day free trial.

Google Ads scripts

Free, do-it-yourself pacing

Best for a single account when you are comfortable with JavaScript

A scheduled Google Ads script can read month-to-date cost, compare it with a target you hardcode, and email you when pacing drifts. Free and fully customizable, but you own the code, the edge cases, and the maintenance, and it only sees Google Ads.

3

Optmyzr

Budget pacing inside an optimization suite

Best for PPC managers who want pacing and bid work in one place

Optmyzr's budget management tracks spend against monthly targets across Google and Microsoft Ads, with rules that can adjust budgets automatically. Priced for professional PPC teams rather than single advertisers.

4

Shape

Pacing-first cross-channel dashboard

Best for teams managing many client budgets side by side

Shape was built around budget pacing across Google, Meta and other channels, with forecasts and automated budget adjustments. Strong at the pacing job specifically, lighter on narrative reporting.

5

Adalysis

Audits, ad testing and budget monitoring

Best for Google Ads-heavy accounts that also want audits

Adalysis pairs deep Google Ads audits and ad testing with budget monitoring and pacing alerts. A good fit when pacing is one item on a longer account-hygiene checklist.

6

NinjaCat

Pacing at agency scale

Best for high-volume agencies with many accounts

NinjaCat combines budget pacing with reporting and dashboards for agencies running dozens or hundreds of accounts. Capable, but a heavier platform and price than smaller teams need.

7

Swydo

Goal and budget tracking with reports

Best for client reporting that includes a pacing widget

Swydo lets you set budget goals per client and surfaces pacing alongside KPI reporting. Useful if your main need is reports and pacing is a section inside them.

8

TrueClicks

Account issue detection with budget checks

Best for catching pacing problems as part of broader account alerts

TrueClicks continuously checks Google Ads accounts for issues, including budgets that are capped or off pace. Strong signal-to-noise, aimed at agencies and consultants.

9

Looker Studio

Build your own pacing dashboard

Best for teams that already live in Looker Studio

With the Google Ads connector and a few calculated fields you can chart month-to-date spend against a target line. Free, but you build and maintain the template, and it reports rather than alerts.

10

Google Sheets plus Supermetrics

Spreadsheet pacing

Best for analysts who want full control of the pacing formula

Pipe daily Google Ads spend into a sheet and calculate pacing however your team defines it, then trigger email alerts with Apps Script. Maximum flexibility, and maximum setup time.

How to choose a budget pacing tool

Ask three questions. Does it project the end of the month, or only show spend so far? Does it push an alert, or wait for you to open a dashboard? And does it cover every platform you buy on, keeping Google and Meta numbers separate rather than blending them? Scripts and spreadsheets win on price and flexibility. Purpose-built monitors win on the time you get back and on catching overspend early enough to act.

Budget pacing questions, answered

What is budget pacing in Google Ads?

Budget pacing compares how much you have spent so far this month with how much you planned to spend, then projects where the month will land at the current rate. Pacing above target means you will overspend; pacing below target usually means lost volume.

How do you calculate pacing?

Divide month-to-date spend by the number of completed days, multiply by the days in the month, and compare that projection with your monthly target. A projection 10% or more above target is usually worth acting on.

Why does Google Ads overspend my daily budget?

Google can spend up to twice your average daily budget on any given day, and balances it out across the month. That is why day-level checks mislead and month-to-date pacing is the number to watch.
